George Wicks, George Wicks Carvings. Missoula, Montana Wood Carver. Native American Cherokee Indian.

About George Wicks

George Wicks lives in Missoula, Montana. His love for carving began in 1975 when he got his first pocketknife and carved bows and arrows to hunt rabbits and squirrels with. Then decided if he couldn't buy it he could carve it. Has had several carving instructors over the years and influenced by the work of Charlie Russell and John L. Clarke.

George worked in the logging industry until the mills closed down here in Montana. Taught wood carving classes at a private school in Hamilton, Montana for a year and was excited when his students received first and second place ribbons in the Western Montana State Wood Carvers Show. George never entered his wood carvings until his students talked him into it, then won first and second place in the Native American division and best of class.

A graduate from the Missouri Auction School class of 2000, top of his class by auctioneer hall of fame member Bing Carter. George has sold all types of artwork and has done numerous benefit and charity auctions including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundations Ladies event. With auctioneering skills and carving talent, he decided to tie the two together and hold his own fine art auctions twice a year.

A registered Native American from a federally recognized tribe "Cherokee" /Citizen of the Cherokee Nation, he creates a lot of Native American carvings and sculptures. With the inspiration of living in Big Sky Country of the Rocky Mountains here in Montana he draws off of nature, wildlife and history. Has always been fascinated by history and creates Native American, Wildlife and Western History fine art relief carvings and sculptures.

George sells carvings for owners of collections as well as his own at his fine art auctions. If you would like to sell a carving or a whole collection, please contact George.
